Scheduling Options: know more

  • To schedule a “Retarget Campaign” (option Retarget Campaign: "On", ) or a “Distribut Over Time” campaign (option Retarget Campaign: "Off" and option Distribute Over Time: "On") you must select a “Start Date”, an “End Date” and an “Expiration Date”.

    • Start Date: When the campaign will start being sent from our delivery engine
    • End Date: When the campaign will stop being sent from our delivery engine.
      • Some campaigns may still reach users' devices after End Date. This may happen if the campaign has left our servers BEFORE the End Date but was received or downloaded or shown in the user's device AFTER the End Date. This sometimes can occur if the user was without internet connection when the campaign left our servers and restored internet connection after that, when End Date had already passed.
      • In some cases campaigns can compute performance metrics AFTER the End Date. This may happen when, for example, a user clicks on a notification BEFORE the End Date - let's say Jan 1st ,11:59pm - but the information regarding this click only reached our servers AFTER the End Date - let's say Jan 2nd, 12:00am.
        • One way to define a limit to when the campaign should stop computing metrics - after End Date - is to user the Expiration Date.
    • Expiration Date: When the campaign should stop computing remaining performance metrics that may occur after End Date.
      • As a good practice, campaign creators should always leave a few days of marging between End Date and Expiration Date to account for residual events that might occur after End Date - such as users who were off-line clicking on a notification after End Date. This ensures that the Campaign Analytics will capture the full impact of each campaign.
      • It is also a good practice that, the longer the campaign is, the larger is the gap it requires between End Date and Expiration Date.
      • If a notification has not yet been shown on the user's device and the Expiration Date arrives, it will not be shown to the user anymore.
      • If a notification has been downloaded to the user's device before Expiration Date, it will be kept inside its notification tray. In case the notification is in the notification tray when the campaign expires - and the user has not yet interacted with it - then the notification will be deleted from the device's notification tray and, thus, the user will no longer have the oportunity to click on it.
  • To schedule a “One Shoot Campaign” (option Retarget Campaign: "Off" and option Distribute Over Time: "Off"), you only need to select a "Start Date", no "End Date" or "Expiration Date" is required.

    • This is because, in this case, our servers will automatically distribute the campaign delivery to be as fast as allowed by the delivery engine throughput on that day.
    • The campaign will end as soon as the engine delivers it to the entire reacheable audience.
    • It usually takes a few hours for a One Shoot campaign to end, but the exact time depends on the size of the Audience (and its target for Clicks or Impressions, on the case of a Monetization campaign).
  • In the Scheduling section you have the option to:

    • Shoot a “Retarget Campaign”, in which you target your Audience again based on the parameters selected on "Audience Target Behavior" and within the defined time range.

      • This option is only available for Push or Push + In-App campaigns. For In-App campaigns, the user will be targeted whenever he performs the specified In-App event and we cannot control this behavior.
    • or “Distribute in Time”, in which you distribute the delivery of the campaign and target your Audience only once within the selected time range.

    • If you choose a “Retarget Campaign” there are extra options that can be customized:

      • Audience target behavior:

        • Retarget same users in every retarget trigger: Will retarget the same users on every retargeting slot (depending on the selection of "Schedule Behavior").
        • Retarget only those who closed the notification by swiping.: Will retarget only users who closed the notification by swiping it. Either by swiping it from their home screen when it first pops-up or by swiping the colapsed notification out of the notification tray or bay swiping the expanded notification out of the notification tray.
      • Schedule Behavior:

        • Retarget For every slot: Send again the same campaign to the same audience on every time slot. If there are two time slots in the same day, the same person may receive the same campaign twice on that day.

        • Retarget Daily: Send again the same campaign to the same audience delivering it only once during the day. If there are two time slots in the same day, the audience will be split, 50% receiving the campaign on the first slot and the other 50% on the second.

    • Here are examples of the possible delivery behaviors of a campaign:

  • Target 100 people. Retarget Campaign = OFF / Distribute in Time = OFF: This is a one shot delivery. The system will distribute the delivery in automated batches, starting on the start date and will finish whenever the target is reached. People will receive it only once.

  • Target 100 people. Retarget Campaign = OFF / Distribute in Time = ON: The system will distribute the delivery in evenly divided batches according to the target and the time range and will finish when End date is reached. People will receive it only once.
When distributing the campaign over time you need to specify an end date to indicate the end of the campaign distribution.

You also need to specify which week days and times the distribution will start throughout this range. For instance, for a 3 day campaign that runs from Mon to Wed you must add each of the week days by clicking on the "+ Add More" button and assign the hour in which the distribution will start for each week day :

If you don't specify each week day and only leave Monday assigned, for instance, you will distribute your campaign to the entire audience on Monday, even though you marked "End Date" as Wednesday.

  • Target 100 people. Retarget Campaign = ON / Distribute in Time = OFF / Audience target behavior: Resend only to people who didn’t interact: Delivery will be distributed between the Start and End dates retargeting only those who did not interact with the campaign.
When retargeting an audience, you must define and End date for the campaign (thus distributing it in time), otherwise the campaign would run indefinitely, retargeting the entire audience. This is not a desirable scenario because it could generate high rejection and opt-outs.

Also, in this case, you need to specify which week days and times the retarget will take place. For instance, for a 3 day campaign that runs from Mon to Wed you must add each of the week days by clicking on the "+ Add More" button and assign the hour in which the retarget will be delivered for each week day :

If you don't specify each week day and only leave Monday assigned, for instance, you will retarget your campaign only once, on Monday, even though you marked "End Date" as Wednesday.

  • _Target 100 people. Retarget Campaign = ON / Distribute in Time = OFF / Audience target behavior: Use Same Audience Every Day: _Delivery will be distributed between the Start and End dates retargeting 100% of the Audience every day, until End date.
The same "End Date" and specific week days and times from the above example is valid here.

  • Target 100 people. Retarget Campaign = ON / Distribute in Time = OFF / Audience target behavior: Use Same Audience Every Day. Schedule Behavior = Retarget for Every Slot: Delivery will be distributed between the Start and End dates retargeting 100% of the Audience every day and every time slot, until End date.
The same "End Date" and specific week days and times from the above example is valid here.

  • _Target 100 people. Retarget Campaign = ON / Distribute in Time = OFF/ Audience target behavior: Use Same Audience Every Day. Schedule Behavior = Retarget Daily: _Delivery will be distributed between the Start and End dates retargeting 100% of the Audience every day but splitting if there is more than one time slot per day.
The same "End Date" and specific week days and times from the above example is valid here.

There is no option for Retarget Campaign = ON / Distribute in Time = ON.
